The South Dakota Quilters' Guild was founded in 1986 by quilters who wished to promoted quilting across the state. Their stated purpose was to: to encourage a wider appreciation of quilting, to raise and maintain standards of design, individual ideas and expression, and to keep interest alive b promoting local quilt guild projects, programs and doing charitable work. Present organized classes for members at regular intervals, and when possible plan and present a biennial quilt show for the public.
The newly elected officers and board members are working to create a guild that that represents the many interests of the quilters of South Dakota. These is an exciting and challenging time for the board and SDQG members as we strive to keep the SDQG an important part of quilting, learning and sharing the art of quilting with each other and quilters across the state.
The South Dakota Quilters' Guild Executive Board meet recently to plan for the year's activities and for the April Retreat. The officers enjoyed a quilting retreat along with their business meetings held at the Bulow House in Beresford, SD. The group developed numerous ideas and activities for the next retreat and for the entire year. We hope you will enjoy them as much as we did planning them.
